Dr. Allan and Mrs. Irene Mitchell formed Almit Metal Finishing Ltd on the Aycliffe Business Park, County Durham in December 1981.
A 3000 sq. ft extension was added to the Specialist Coatings factory which was built in 1999 to house a shot blasting facility to compliment our wet spray processes.
Recognising the need for growth, in 2005 a 22,000 sq. ft purpose built factory along with a two storey 6000 sq. ft office block was commissioned adjacent to the current Specialist Coatings facility in Shildon to house a new pre-treatment and automatic powder line. In November 2005 all Office and Paint Shop staff from the Group were transferred into the new offices and factory to centralise these functions.
In March 2007 due to increasing demand for site spraying a Site Services division was set up.
In December 2008 a Zinc Phosphate line was introduced into the Wet Spray shop as an additional pre-treatment for mild steel substrates.
